The skin problem can develop on any part of the body particularly the back, the face, neck and shoulders. Acne develops when the sebaceous glands produce large amounts of oil and clog the pores of the skin. Bacteria stars to manufacture that leads to formation of acne. According to skin specialists and health experts mild acne is common and is can be treated with the help of over the counter medication and constant skin care. Severe acne on the other hand requires systematic drugs where the treatment is generally for a longer duration of time. In case of severe treatment before taking any medication it is recommended that a person consults a dermatologist who can evaluate the condition properly and prescribe the relevant treatment for the condition.

Acne in most cases is not as severe however acne conditions become worse due to lack of skin care, unhealthy diet and unhealthy hygiene. It is crucial to take care of the skin to avoid the likelihood of acne formation. The first step to getting rid of acne is to wash the skin twice on a daily basis. This will allow the pores of the skin to get unclogged and clear the skin surface. Excessive washing should be avoided. it is a common misconception that washing the skin all the time will help improve acne. This can actually make things worse for you. Instead it will cause dryness and skin irritation. The second step is to apply a mild moisturizer or cleanser on the face and then use benzoyl peroxide in minute amounts over the affected areas. Benzoyl peroxide is a common and well known topical treatment that works well towards killing bacteria and unclogging the pores of the skin. Salicylic acid can also be applied, another over the counter medication that helps reduce inflammation and reduces acne overall. The downside of the medication is that it needs to be applied regularly; once the treatment is discontinued it is likely that acne will reappear.

Some natural treatments can be used including application of lemon juice on the acne that can remove dirt from the pores and diminish pimples on the face. It also helps improve the skin tone. For painful acne mint juice can be applied at night since it gives a soothing effect and abates inflammation.

Abstinence can be a useful step towards improving acne, this means that it is necessary to avoid unhealthy food with a high glycemic index. Such food items tend to boost the insulin levels in the body causing acne. A lot of fruit and green leafy vegetables should be added to the diet list since they contain sufficient amounts of vitamins and minerals that improve the health of the skin and the body overall.

Comedogenic products should also be avoided, since the chemicals in the products tend to cause skin damage and lead to acne development. Non comedogenic should be used since they are mineral based and keep the pores of the skin unclogged.
