About Ayurvedic Acne Treatment


Ayurvedic science is based on herbs. It proposes the treatments of different diseases in the form of combinations of various herbs. Acne treatment in Ayurvedic discipline is not an exception to that.

Plants for Acne Treatment:

In Ayurveda, the combination of the following plant extracts is believed to be a highly productive solution for acne and its associated problems.

  • Haritaki (Terminalia Chebula)
  • Lajjalu (Sensitive plant)
  • Guduchi (Tinospora cardifolia)
  • Amalaki (Embelica officinalis)
  • Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris L.)
  • Ikshu (Saccharumofficinarum)
  • Kumari (Aloe Vera)

In Ayurvedic method of acne treatment, some tips are also given as to help acne treatment and to prevent any further acne.

The Tips:

  • Opposite foods must be shunned. (Fish & milk, fish & sugarcane juice, jiggery & pork, honey & pork, milk & mango, banana & milk, are opposite foods)
  • Exercising followed by heavy meals must be avoided.Heavy foods that cause digestion disorder are not to be consumed.
  • Contacts with extreme climates should be avoided as possible.
  • Excess usage of curds, fish, sour and salty foods, Bengal gram (urad), radish, sesame, horse gram and jaggery are better ignored.
  • Control emotions through Yoga and Meditation.

     

Some Dos and Don’ts to Prevent Acne:

Dos

    • Consume more water and keep the body well hydrated.
    • Wash face thoroughly with a soap that suits the skin, 4 to 5 times a day. Avoid excessive removal of oil, as skin needs certain amount of oil to maintain its natural healthy condition.
    • Wash face thoroughly after using a make up as some beauty products block the pores.
    • Consume green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits.
    • Sleep sufficiently for long hours

Don'ts:

    • Using spicy, dry foods
    • Consuming constipating foods.
    • Squeezing of acne.
    • Heavily consuming soft drinks, tea, and coffee.
